Overview

XRONOS consists of a set of programs which are accessed by the control program xronos. This is invoked from the operating system by typing xronos. There are 3 different user interfaces which can be used within XRONOS:

Inexperienced users are advised to start with the question/answer user interfaces.

Xronos issues a Xronos> prompt from which commands are entered. In the question/answer user interfaces (the default), after entering a command corresponding to a XRONOS application, each question is written on the screen followed by a => prompt. Defaults, where relevant, are indicated in square brackets. In the command-driven user interface the execution of a XRONOS application is controlled by specifying qualifiers in the command string. The XRONOS help file is accessed by entering help from any XRONOS prompt. Operating system commands can be given from within XRONOS by prefixing the command with $. A set of XRONOS commands in a file can be input using @filename from the Xronos> prompt. Note that all commands (not replies to questions !) can be abbreviated to unique strings. Comments can be included in any reply or command line if they are prefixed with an exclamation mark !.
